How to hire a worker or tradesperson with confidence: an 8-step guide
Hiring through friends and neighbours is still common in Morocco, but it is not always enough: you may not know anyone with the trade you need, or you need someone soon in a new city. Digital platforms widen the choice without removing the need for care. These eight steps work for any way of hiring, and show how Khedma helps at each one.
1. Write a precise brief
State the work, the place, the date, how many people, and which materials and transport are available. A clear brief reduces surprises and makes offers comparable. If typing is hard, you can record the description by voice in Darija inside the app.
2. Set price and unit
Choose hourly, daily or per-task pricing and compare your price with the reference range for the trade. Never go below the legal minimum; a price that is too low attracts weak offers or leads to requests for extras later.
3. Check the profile and reviews
Look at skills, years of experience, reviews from previous clients, and whether the worker has verified their identity. Many detailed reviews say more than a single one. For a sensitive job, such as work inside your home or childcare, check even more carefully.
4. Negotiate clearly
The worker can accept your offer or counter it. In Khedma the negotiation slider shows where the price sits in the reference range, which helps both sides reach a figure they accept. Do not compare on price alone: look at the details, reputation and start date as well.
5. Lock the agreement in the app
Price, unit, place, duration and scope should be in writing. If the work changes along the way, negotiate the change before continuing rather than at the end. Avoid sharing personal details outside the app before you have agreed.
6. Prepare the place and first meeting
Fix a clear time and meeting point and provide the agreed materials. For first jobs with someone you do not know, it is better to have a family member or neighbour present. Ask the worker to tell you about any problem before it grows.
7. Pay as agreed
Pay the agreed amount in full when the work is done and deduct nothing without clear agreement. In Khedma the worker receives the full base wage; platform fees are calculated on top, on the client's side. After completion you can get a PDF invoice showing what you paid.
8. Review, and in a dispute follow the right path
Leave an honest review; it helps future clients and the worker. If you disagree, first try to settle it in the conversation and keep the messages. If that fails, open a dispute in the app so the team can review it. You can also block or report a user who behaves inappropriately. For serious legal matters, contact the competent authorities.
