A first job with no CV: how a young worker builds a profile clients trust

4 min read · Updated

Many young Moroccans can really work: they helped a relative on a building site, did the harvest, learned cooking, hairdressing or bike repair. But they have no CV and no work certificate. A client who does not know you needs small reasons to trust you, and those can be built.

1. Pick one or two skills you truly have

A profile that lists ten skills convinces nobody. Start with what you do well and people ask for: building helper, cleaning, delivery, carrying, simple painting. Add more later once you have proved yourself. State your experience honestly: honesty protects your reputation.

2. A clear photo and a short description

A clear, well-lit face photo, and two sentences: what you do, your city and when you are available. You can record the description by voice in Darija inside the app if writing is hard. Add photos of past work if you have any.

3. Verify your identity

The app lets you verify your identity with your national ID card (CNIE). A verified profile gives clients one more reason to trust you. Check the app for the verification steps.

4. Start with small jobs that earn good reviews

  • Take short, nearby jobs you can do well rather than a big job you might fail.
  • Be on time and tell the client about any problem before it grows.
  • Politely ask a satisfied client for a review once the work is done.

5. Price your work fairly

Use comparable listings as a guide and never go below the legal minimum (SMIG by the hour, agricultural SMAG by the day). You receive the full agreed wage; platform fees are never deducted.

Mistakes that cost trust

  • Overstating experience or claiming a skill you do not have.
  • No-shows without warning, or repeated lateness.
  • Changing the price after agreeing.
  • Sharing personal details outside the app before you are sure of the other party.
